Project Overview
Black horizontal rod railing installed around the wraparound composite deck and porch of a gray cedar-shingle lakefront home, with open water views from every run.
Analysis
The whole point of the deck is the lake view, so a thin horizontal rod system was chosen to keep the sightline clear while maintaining full guard height.
Process
Measure the wrap deck and porch, fabrication, powder coat, install in two stages, final alignment.
Outcome
A near-invisible guard that leaves the lake view wide open from the deck, porch and interior.

Materials Used
Black powder-coated aluminum posts and rails with horizontal rod infill, through-bolted post connections with backing, stainless fasteners rated for the exposure.
Methods & Techniques
Posts through-bolted to the framing with backing, rails levelled around the wrap, rod spacing kept uniform, penetrations sealed against weather.
